The overall dominance of the Samsung Galaxy S7 in the Android market is unquestionable. It is one of the most complete smartphones in terms of specs and performance. Meanwhile, the HTC 10 is gradually climbing the popularity charts due to its more than capable prowess. Let’s pit the contender against the champ in a battery performance test.

The Galaxy S7 is powered by a 3,000 mAh lithium-ion battery that allows 22 hours of call time and 62 hours of music play. The Samsung flagship can last a full day’s worth of regular usage and reaches 100 percent battery life in 75 minutes of charging time. It also has wireless charging support.

The HTC 10 likewise packs 3,000 mAh of power in its non-removable lithium-ion battery. It delivers 27 hours of talk time and 456 hours of standby time. According to Trusted Reviews, the HTC 10 can also easily make it through a whole day of regular use and only allows about 4 percent of battery drop when unused overnight. Although the HTC 10 lacks wireless charging support, it has Quick Charge 3.0 that allows the phone to be fully charged up in less than an hour.

TechRadar recently put the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the HTC 10 to a series of battery performance tests that involved web browsing, gaming, YouTube playback and native video playback. After an hour and a half each of web browsing and YouTube videos, the HTC 10 had 46 percent remaining battery life while the Galaxy S7 had 41 percent. But following another hour and a half of gaming, the HTC handset got left behind and only had 3 percent of power left. The Galaxy S7 endured intense gameplay rather well and posted 10 percent remaining battery levels after.
