Past rumours suggested that the Galaxy S7 will be released anytime between January and March 2016. However, a new report from China almost confirms the actual month of release.

Galaxy S7 release date, price range

One of the major carriers in China, China Mobile, recently presented the roadmap for the next couple of months. During the presentation, one of the slides showed the Samsung Galaxy S7 release date as March 2016, which was later uploaded in Weibo.

GSM Arena, on the other hand, says the device will be announced at the MWC 2016 event towards the end of February. However, it will hit the store shelves only in mid-March.

Furthermore, the same presentation also revealed the China-specific Galaxy S7 price range as “more than 3,000+ yuan," according to GForGames. This translates to approximately around US$463 or AU$640 at today’s exchange rate. Note that this is just the exchange rate and not the actual price of the device.

Galaxy S7 specifications, features

Samsung has been rumoured to utilize both the Exynos 8890 chip and Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC on its S7. The silicon will be selected based on the region of release.

Earlier rumours suggested that the Galaxy S6 successor will sport a 12 MP home-grown BRITECELL rear-facing camera sensor. This also means that Samsung will be ditching the ubiquitous ISOCELL sensors seen in the other Galaxy S lineup.

Moving on to the screen configuration, the smartphone is expected to feature a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display, bundled with 1440p resolution and Corning’s next-generation Gorilla Glass 5 protection, GSM Arena noted.

Unlike the predecessor, GForGames says, the South Korean tech giant might make use of magnesium alloy for the exterior, which will in turn make the device tougher. However, the back of the handset will retain the same glass build seen in the S6.

Furthermore, Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS will run the device with Samsung’s custom UI on top of it. Reports also say Hi-Fi audio and 3D Touch-related aspects will be part of the handset.

If the rumoured support for Cat. 12 LTE connectivity comes true, Galaxy S7 owners will be able to experience up to 600 Mbps downlink speed. Readers should, however, note that Samsung has not confirmed any S7-related details thus far.
