It appears 2015 will be another year for Samsung and Apple's rivalry as both companies are poised to release their next best flagship updates: the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 7. According to new leaks, Samsung Galaxy S6 may feature a bendable display allowing people to fold it completely whereas Apple will go for a new screen technology allowing 3D images. Who will dominate the smartphone market next year?

Samsung Galaxy S6

Samsung will go ahead of Apple as it is expected to announce the Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship around January (during the CES 2015) or around February (during the MWC 2015). Actually release should be around March if Samsung will follow a similar timeline with Galaxy S5. ZDNET reports that Samsung hinted at foldable smartphones at its recent Investor Forum in New York. According to Samsung's vice president of business strategic team, Lee Chang-hoon: "We will secure production capacity of 30,000 to 40,000 [flexible displays each month] by the end of next year."

"There will be no company [except Samsung] that has this great production capacity by 2016." The official added.

A rundown of the Galaxy S6 details are as follows:

Display: ?-inch 2560 x 1440 (QuadHD, aka 2K)

Camera (back): 16-megapixel, OIS, 4K recording

Camera (front): 5-megapixel

Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 inside USA, Exynos 7420 outside - both 64-bit

OS: Android 5.0 Lollipop

Storage: 32, 64, 128GB internal

Micro-SD: 128GB microSD/SDHC slot

Samsung is also expected to continue with the 64-bit work to catch up to Apple.

iPhone 7

Value Walk reports that there are possibilities for Apple to release the iPhone 7 sooner. Apple has been achieving positive iPhone 6 sales that it can encourage earlier releases. As for the design, people should expect Apple to veer away too much from its tried and tested premium approach. Apple has always been particular about its design changing small parts of its face like edges and monicker only. Other details include:

Display: SuperAMOLED technology made with sapphire glass and liquidmetal, HD with 3D capabilities

Processor: A9 chip

Camera: 21MP

Both companies have not provided any official details about the upcoming flagships.
