Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 has been making headlines particularly because it will reportedly power up some of the most anticipated smartphones of 2015. According to latest predictions and information, Snapdragon 810 will find its way to devices like Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4 and Sony Xperia Z4. Will it be a killer year for Android and Qualcomm?

Qualcomm has been a major player in the mobile handset industry powering up a considerable number of handsets including Samsung's Galaxy line. As the South Korean tech giant along with Sony and LG lines up to get Snapdragon 810 on board their upcoming flagships, Business Korea reports a possible delay in the chip's release due to production problems. According to an unnamed industry source, Snapdragon 810 has been having overheating problems with causes still unknown.

Other problems include the RAM controller linked to the AP as well as Adreno 420 GPU issues. Digital Versus notes that the problems have considerable impact prompting the American firm to possibly delay shipping of the chips despite scheduled releases from Samsung, LG and Sony. Analysts fear this can have a knockout effect on the launches of the Galaxy S6, LG G4 and the Xperia Z4.

Another point of problem is that the Snapdragon 810 processor may not have 64-bit support which makes the Snapdragon 808 a better alternative. Starting from the release of the A8 with 64-bit structure, Android manufacturers have been working on catching up with Apple.

Qualcomm said in a statement to Digital Versus:

"The devices powered by Snapdragon 810 are under development and due for release during the first half of 2015. At this stage of the development, and given that many 810-powered devices are yet to even be announced, it is too early to comment on the performance of the Snapdragon 810. We are confident that the Snapdragon 810 will become the reference for premium devices in 2015."
