Samsung proceeds with the Android 5.0 Lollipop giving users a multitude of features to explore. The roll out may vary as carriers wait for Samsung to fix the TouchWiz compatibility with new design guidelines from Samsung.

According to an exclusive report from SamMobile, there have been a number of consistencies with the user interface thus Samsung still needs to do some work before it can release the promised Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update. It was also noted that Samsung has switched its Android Lollipop base to LRX02E instead of LRW58J. Samsung may already have an updated source code; however, it still does not have the Lollipop branding.

Tech Radar notes that Samsung has not given exact details about the release of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the S5. Some reports, though, claim that it should be around December 2014. This may be limited to Samsung's official release. Networks could further delay the roll out thus the possibility of a January 2015 release.

The Galaxy Note 4 was released ahead of the Lollipop so it did not include the new interface. It should be among the first ones to get the update along with the Galaxy S5. Some Samsung units like the Samsung Galaxy S4, Note 3 and Note 2 still need to complete their Android 4.4 KitKat roll outs. Apart from the much commended Material Design and multiple accounts, SamMobile also revealed a changelog for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update:

  • New Finger Lock Screen for Note 4
  • Thinner and fresher new system-wide font
  • New animations with off screen animations - people can expect smoother animations
  • Google Search bar in recents menu
  • Notification center sports brightness slider with new yellow color - when users change the brightness, the device hides the notification center and lets the user see the content underneath
  • Removed "Interruptions" from Sound settings
  • Android 5.0 offers new filters for the gallery. Users can now categorize media under documents, food, events, pets, flowers, vehicles and food.
  • Improved Music UI

These are just some of the changes that Google offers for devices that can upgrade to the Android 5.0 platform. The changelog reveals a long list of improvements though some of these may be tweaked according to the handset's specifications. As usual, the Nexus devices have been first in line to receive the update.
