Samsung has been working on releasing its Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on a number of its devices. This time, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is on the receiving end. The latest Android firmware has started rolling with Verizon releasing the OTA. Similar to other Android rollouts, the Android 4.4.4 KitKat access to Samsung Galaxy S5 may come earlier or later depending on the carrier and region.

The Verizon Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is available over-the-air (OTA) so people only need to click on the notification. Users have to free up to 346MB to download the firmware. According to reports, the Android release offers a Bluetooth audio fix among others. According to Verizon's support page, Samsung Galaxy S5 users can expect the following from the firmware upgrade:

-Additional tracking features to the S-Health platform. These include Sleep, Weight, Coash and Stress.

-Users can now acces to the Emergency Call dialer via the lock screen through the Emergency button's swipe motion. This is similar to the camera.

-Users can now turn on and off the camera shutter sound via the camera settings.

The update also offers fix for the following:

-The pull-down notification screen can now display the right number of unread emails

-Bluetooth headset audio loss

-Unmatched Linked Contact Information and Caller ID in Knox.

Verizon also noted that the Android 4.4.4 KitKat software prepares the Galaxy S5 for the fresh Advanced Calling 1.0 feature that the company will soon be providing. For users under other networks will have to wait for updates and notifications. The next big update from Google will be Android L. The internet giant has not announced the final details and release date of the software. According to reports, the Android 5.0 L update will feature Material Design offer a flatter feel and more control for developers. It will also have 64-bit support and ART. Samsung has not made any official announcements about its update plan for the Android L unlike manufacturers like HTC.
