Samsung Galaxy S4 users can choose to upgrade to the Android 5.1 update via a new custom ROM. The ROM is ideal for those who do not wish to wait for the over-the-air release. As with other custom ROM updates, users will need to flash their devices.

Users about to download and install the update should back up all important information. Resetting and updating the device can erase all important information. USB debugging should also be enabled. To do this, go to Settings > Development Options > USB debugging. Make sure to root the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 device and install a recovery tool like CWM or TWRP.
