The successful release of the Samsung Galaxy S3 put Samsung on top of the smartphone market. However, the Korea-based company is set to release another handset - the second generation of Galaxy Note.

Samsung appears to unstoppable in its quest to dominate the tech market. After the unprecedented release of its 2012 flagship phone last month and rumors of the pre-order of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 last week, new rumors emerged on the imminent release of Galaxy Note 2.

The first Galaxy Note was introduced in Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year wherein it received criticisms due to its size and resemblance to the Jurassic palm pilot that was once a big hit in the 90s. Moreover, the devices almost suffered as more attention was given to other devices such as Apple's latest iPad, Amazon's Kindle Fire and Barnes and Noble's Nook tablet.

Korea-based company boasts a fusion of a smartphone and a tablet with its new Galaxy Note. The device is now available to two of Australia's largest network, Optus and Vodafone. It will be launched to Telstra on April.

Samsung's Galaxy Note was officially launched Galaxy Note in a media event in Sydney last March 13. The device was introduced in a new category carrying the functions of both a smartphone and a tablet. In the event, organizers brought in professional illustrators who sketched electronic photos of guests using the device's stylus or the S pen.

Samsung boasted that it sold millions of units of the aforementioned device on the last week of March. There are speculations that the Galaxy Note is set for release in October. If proven true, the device will battle head on with iPhone 5.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. Galaxy Note 2

Screen Display

The Samsung Galaxy Note's display is larger than that of the S3 since the Galaxy Note resembles a palm top. The two devices have high pixel densities. However, S3 has higher pixel density than that of Galaxy Note.

Processor

The two devices both sport one of the most powerful processors Exynos 1.4GHz dual core processor.

Storage

The S3 comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions, with optional storage by way of a miniSD card up to 64GB. The Galaxy Note, on the other hand, 16GB or 32GB and can be boosted up to 32GB externally. However, there is a possibility that Samsung will increase the storage of the Galaxy Note 2.

Connectivity

Both the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note have all the standard connections such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and there are LTE versions of the phone. The S3 however has S-Beam, NFC and wireless charging as extras.

Operating System

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with the TouchWiz interface and includes apps such as S Voice and Smart Stay. The Galaxy Note, on the other hand, has Android 2.3 Gingerbread. However, this can be updated in the future and it comes with stylus applications.
