The Australian version of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has reportedly started receiving the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OS update. It is worth noting that Samsung has been relentlessly working to push the software update to the latest and relatively old devices from the time Google introduced the Lollipop version.

As of last week, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 reportedly started receiving Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update in Europe. And on Feb. 17, Samsung has apparently started rolling out the same update over-the-air (OTA) for the Galaxy Note Edge with the curved-edge-display in Australia. Following the update in Australia, the Lollipop update will be rolled out globally between the time-frame of February and March, notes You Mobile. However, GSM Arena says, the initial set of roll out could be part of the soak test. In any case, the update will reportedly be made available to all Australian Note Edge users in a few weeks or even sooner.

The Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for the Australian Samsung Galaxy Note Edge reportedly consists of the following package information: The model number is apparently SM-N915G and the build date is Feb. 13, 2015. Other key details include the Changelist: 4144270, Product code: XSA, PDA: N915GXXU1BOB7, CSC: N915GXSA1BOB7 and lastly, the MODEM: N915GXXU1BOB7.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge owners in Australia are advised to check for the software update package time to time, in order to migrate to Lollipop OS with the new Material Design. On the other hand, Samsung recently confirmed the roll out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 2 phablet released in 2012.

According to Phone Arena, the Lollipop release will most probably be in the upcoming months. Also it is worth mentioning that, the U.S. variants of the Galaxy Note 2 is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 4412 SoC with a quad-core processor, which is similar to the European variant. Hence, the U.S. variant of the Galaxy Note 2 will receive the Lollipop update soon, says the same site.

Meanwhile, Sam Mobile says, Samsung and other OEMs normally upgrade the flagship devices with the latest software updates for only up to 18 months from the release date. Speaking of Galaxy Note 2, it’s been nearly three years since the smartphone debuted. In any case, the South Korean tech giant is on course to roll out the latest Android update to the former device.
