The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 that was released alongside the Note Edge is packed with 3,220 mAh battery. The last year’s Galaxy Note 3 phablet features a battery of 3,200 mAh capacity. However, the Galaxy Note Edge that features a marvelous curved display on its right edge is packed with a smaller battery of 3,100 mAh capacity.

According to GSMArena, since the manufacturers had to scale down the size of the device in order to support curved display, the device is packed with a smaller battery. The curved display as well as the apps that are designed to function on such a display can greatly impact the smaller capacity battery of Note Edge.

The Galaxy Note 4 battery life test conducted by GSMArena revealed that it offers an endurance rating of 87 hours. Here are the results of the battery life tests carried out on the Galaxy Note Edge.

3G Talk Time Test

The 3G talk time test on Galaxy Note Edge showed the device could last for up to 21:39 hours whereas the Galaxy Note 4 offers a 3G talk time of 28:34 hours. It shows that a lower capacity battery of Note Edge has caused it to lose over 7 full hours of battery life.

Web Browsing Test

The web browsing test on Galaxy Note Edge revealed that users can browse for nearly 9:20 hours. The iPhone 6 Plus web browsing test by GSMArena revealed that it can last for 9:05 hours. The Galaxy Note 4 supports continuous web browsing for 10:44 minutes. For a flagship smartphone, the ability to support web browsing of about 9 hours is considered below average performance.

Video Playback Test

The Galaxy Note Edge features a new video player app. It has been designed to make use of the curved display screen. The controls of the video player are positioned on the curved edge of the display that allows the user to enjoy videos on the entire screen of the device. The video playback test revealed that it can support continuous video playback for only 10:41 hours. On the other hand, continuous video playback on Note 4 can last for 17:26 hours. The endurance rating which is nothing but the addition of the results of all three tests reveals a score of 68 hours. The Galaxy Note 4 recorded an endurance rating of 87 hours. GSMArena hopes when Android 5.0 Lollipop comes to Note Edge, its battery saver feature would help in some extent in bettering the battery performance.
