A new competitor for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will come from a newplayer in the smartphone business - Thompson. The neophyte company will their first Android smartphone, X-View-2. How would this device fare against the phablet of Samsung?

Thompson is known for its set top boxes and Freeview recorders and has decided to release a 5.3-inch Android smartphone. The new X-View-2 will battle head on with Samsung's rumored flagship phone later this month as both will be officially revealed at the IFA tech event in Berlin, Germany.

Some of the prime features of the first smartphone of the Thompson are its dual-sim capability that allows users slot in two separate SIMs and switch between the two with relative ease. Moreover, X-View-2 has 2450 mAh battery, which promises longer battery life compared to other smartphones. Samsung Galaxy S3 only have 2100 mAh battery.

Screen Display

The X-View-2 will sport a huge 5.3 inch screen, which is slightly small compared to the rumored gigantic screen display of Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which is 5.5 inches. The Thompson smartphone will have 480 x 800 pixels resolution, which is far below compared to 1280 x 800 pixels resolution of Galaxy Note 2. Thus, clearer and more vivid pictures can be expected from Samsung's device.

Processor

Thompson's first Android smartphone will pack a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor. However, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is speculated to be bringing a faster processor with 1.6GHz quad core Exynos processor.

Operating System

The X-View-2 will be powered by Android's 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. However, upgrade to the latest Jelly Bean is expected. Galaxy Note 2, on the other hand, is expected to be released with Jelly Bean mobile OS in tow.

Storage

X-View-2 may fall behind when it comes to storages since it will only include a 1GB ROM and a microSD slot, which users can expanded up to 32GB. However, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will have 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants with microSD slot which can also be expanded up to 32GB.

Camera

The X-View-2 will be equipped with 5-megapixel main camera on the back, which features LED flash, autofocus and video recording. Samsung's flagship phone, on the other hand, is rumored to be equipped with 12MP shooter, which is like combining a DSLR camera in your smartphone.

Release Date

Both devices are expected to be introduced at the IFA event in Berlin on August 30.

If all of the rumored specs and features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, it will come out as a clear winner in this battle. However, we just hav e to wait for the official announcement of Korea-based tech giant Samsung.
