Several Samsung devices are reportedly going to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop software update very soon. Only a handful of flagship devices from Samsung have already received the official Android Lollipop update, plus there are several others that were spotted running the unofficial versions of Android 5.0. Overall, most of the Samsung device users are still waiting for the company to roll out the long-awaited update.

According to reports, the 2014 flagship Samsung Galaxy S5 and the mighty phablet Samsung Galaxy Note 4 are gearing up to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Apparently, one of the employees of Samsung publicly shared an internal announcement via Reddit that the company will, indeed, send out the software updates shortly, BGR reports.

"I am employed by Samsung, and today they sent out an email to all stores in preparation for the new quarter and the New Year. In that email, they said that we need to start preparing our devices for the Lollipop update, and gave instructions on how to prepare," the Reddit user that goes by the name SamsungRep2015 said. In addition, the shared information was reportedly verified by the Reddit moderator.

According to the Reddit user, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is getting the most attention in the list of devices scheduled to receive the software update. Hence, this device will be prioritised over the others. Following the S5, the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Edge will receive the updates. Once these prioritised devices get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 are next. The said Reddit user also stated that the updates will start rolling out in January.

On the other hand, along with the Android 5.0 update, Samsung is believed to streamline bloatware apps and add several new features. As per the shared information, the Reddit user said, "Some features will be added though, but I promise they're really awesome and non-intrusive if you choose to ignore them."
