In a bid to play in the upcoming Fed Cup, Australia's key tennis star Samantha Stosur confirmed her return to play semi-final in April, against Germany.

In order to revive the glory of Fed Cup which Australia won 40 years back, Stosur will head Brisbane to lead the way against Germany at Pat Rafter Arena on April 19-20.

Earlier Stosur was a bit hesitant at the initial stage when it announced Australia's first semi-final after 21 years in the middle of the claycourt session.

But now with the former US Champion joining the team, Australia is eyeing to topple down the poised Germans as they will be headed by number nine Angelique Kerber and Sabine Lisicki, currently ranked at number 15.

Stosur, who currently ranked 20th holds winning record in her past four Fed Cup singles and also beat Angelique Kerber and Andrea Petkovic of Germany in the last years meet at Stuttgart.

"I'm glad I made my decision to play and I'll give it everything I've got in Brisbane to help us get to the final." Stosur stated on Thursday.

Besides Samantha Stosure, Australia will have Casey Dellacqua, who is currently ranked 56 along with Ashleigh Barty.

"It will be tough against Germany but we have the players and the form to have a great chance in getting over the line." said Australian captain Alicia Molik.

The winners of the hardcourt will meet defending champions Italy or Czech Republic in the final match slated in the month of November.

The joining of Stosur in the team has enlivened the spirit of the Australian team. She holds a formidable record bagging 5 WTA and 4 ITF titles in singles. She attained No. 4 ranking in the year 2011 and stands at No. 20 in 2014. In doubles, she attained 24 WTA and 11 ITF titles.
