This Australian safari tourist would have hoped for a far better and less terrifying adventure in South Africa. But he was mauled by a lion on his trip instead. Brendan Smith takes a sigh of relief after having survived an attack by a lion during his excursion.

The incident happened 36 hours after Smith arrived in South Africa, while being on a safari in Johannesburg. The lion is believed to have jumped into the open car in which Smith was travelling. The affected man from Perth got injuries on his legs, that left him scars to show off to the rest of the world. Smith was reportedly rushed to the Fourways Life Hospital in Johannesburg after the incident.

Smith reportedly added a light-hearted post on Facebook that showed a picture of lions, before actually posting the pictures of the scars that one of the lions left him during the safari.

"I wish I was LION but can now say I have life access to the people who have been mauled by a lion group. No later then 36 hours after touching down in Africa I find myself in hospital after a lion jumped through the car window and decided to go to town on my legs," said the Facebook post.

"Pretty full on but am alive, with insurance coming to the party and an influx of curious Africans wanting to see "the lion man. Could have and should have been a lot worse but chicks dig scars so I'll be sweet! I'll post updates on here when they come through," he continued.

According to another Facebook post, the Aussie adventure enthusiast is now discharged from the hospital, and spent the day after the release by watching the Cricket World Cup Final.
