Russell Crowe felt that pressures of owning the Champion Rugby team was responsible for straining his marriage with Danielle Spencer. Crowe and Spencer are not divorced but are separated.

Russell Crowe took over the floundering South Sydney Rabbitohs and worked to lead them to the NRL premier championships. The Gladiator actor did not regret buying the team and referred to his work as “a labour of love." Crowe said, “My taking over the South Sydney Rabbitohs was about inspiring a new generation of kids and enabling community independence.”

Crowe and his wife Danielle Spencer have been separated since 2011 and have two sons together. Spencer recently referred to their relationship as “friends” but Crowe said that he still considered her as his wife. He said that it was love at first sight for him and did not rule out a reconciliation in the future. Spencer understood his busy schedule as an actor but felt that his sports team needlessly took him away from his family.

Russell Crowe and Danielle Spencer have been married for over nine years and have two sons, Charles, 11 and 8-year-old Tennyson. Crowe was recently in the news about buying the English Football Club, Leeds. He has supported Leeds since childhood.
