Australia will battle Wales for the top spot in “Pool of Death” of the 2015 Rugby World Cup at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday. The Wallabies and Wales are tied at first place in their pool standings with three wins and 13 points.

Wales have lost 10 matches in a row against the Wallabies, and are determined to avoid another narrow loss to Australia in Saturday’s RWC fixture. Coach Warren Gatland has made six changes to his side that defeated Fiji last week 23-13, but retained an in form half-back combination of Dan Biggar and Gareth Davies.

Gatland is aware of the tough challenge of facing world No. 2 Australia, insisting that his side should step-up if they want to carry the winning momentum into the quarterfinal round of the RWC.

“We have been impressed with Australia so far in this competition, and we know a step-up is required at Twickenham this weekend,” Gatland told The Guardian . “We’ve trained well this week, had a full squad to pick from and it is great to welcome back players from injury.”

Meanwhile, Australia will also attempt to continue their winning ways heading into the quarterfinal stage of the quadrennial rugby tournament. Coach Michael Cheika made three changes to the starting lineup that defeated England 33-13 at the weekend as the Wallabies try to focus on the challenge of retaining their winning streak against Wales.

Defence coach Nathan Grey knows the danger of giving up penalties against Wales’ successful goal kicker Biggar, who has been remarkable in converting goal kicks all throughout the tournament. But Grey revealed Australia’s preparation is to put Wales under pressure and then back away in the style the Welsh are playing the game.

"They've had a lot of injuries, yet their performances have been consistent in the competition,” Grey told World Rugby . “They've had a break, so will be fresh."

The winner of the heavyweight clash on Saturday will face a quarterfinal game against Scotland or Japan, with a semifinal possibility of meeting Ireland, France, or Argentina. However, the losers will book a date with two-time world champions South Africa in the last eight round.
