A Ronda Rousey return to the UFC got dimmer after the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion announced her engagement to long-time partner Travis Browne. The latter proposed to “Rowdy” in New Zealand a week ago and she happily accepted.

Ronda Rousey and Travis Browne are hoping to arrange a wedding soon with an official date likely to be announced in the near future, according to TMZ Sports. The recent development is expected to shelve all questions surrounding the return of Rousey to the UFC for now.

Did Dana White see this coming?

Back in January, UFC president Dana White hinted that Ronda Rousey may never fight again inside the Octagon via the Unfiltered Podcast per Dann Stupp of MMA Junkie. White believed that Rousey would be prioritising other things such as acting, something he says the former champion was good at. Of the suggestions he made, marriage was never mentioned. Regardless, White said via the NY Post that he was happy for Ronda and that he was looking forward to the wedding.

The belief that both Ronda Rousey and Travis Browne had something special started in 2015. Both were spotted together and Browne’s estranged wife, Jenna Renee, reacted then by saying she was disgusted at “Rowdy.” Not long after, Rousey and Browne were spotted in the Bahamas holding hands and such raised speculations that both were engaged according to the Daily Mail.

Ronda Rousey era coming to a close?

The Ronda Rousey and Travis Browne engagement render a positive light since the former’s forgettable performance at UFC 207. Reigning champion Amanda Nunes made short work of “Rowdy,” finishing her off via brutal knockout in just 48 seconds. The match was one of the more lopsided title fights in UFC history and worse than the loss Rousey suffered against Holly Holm at UFC 193.

With Ronda Rousey’s career dipping, critics believed it was time to move on. To her credit, the former women’s champion did mention that her fight with Nunes was one of her last ones before retiring. Following her performance, most believed it could very well be the last.

The engagement all the more pushes Ronda Rousey out the door. It remains to be seen what lies ahead for “Rowdy” though an acting career could be plausible. She has also been linked to a possible WWE stint, believing she could be an asset to either Raw or SmackDown.

For now, Ronda Rousey has better things in mind like planning her wedding with Browne. Until that is settled her next career move is on hold. Check out the video below anouncing the Ronda Rousey - Travis Browne engagement.
