Australian teenager and football prospect Daniel De Silva has his eyes on a dream debut for AS Roma against Real Madrid at the International Champions Cup in Melbourne. The attacking midfielder has been included in Roma’s team to battle out Madrid in a one-off clash at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday night.

Despite having to play off the bench, the Australian youngster, who admitted he was “equally excited and nervous” to play for the Italian club, still feels thrilled for his debut and the chance to face Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. He also added that to play against the European teams “would be ridiculous” and a “dream come true.”

"To come on against Man City or Real Madrid in my first game for Roma, that would be ridiculous. If I get a run, it's a debut for Roma in Australia. It would be a dream come true really. That would be perfect but even if I don't, I'm really looking forward to the experience.Because of how high-profile the players are, like (Francesco) Totti, I think even if I just met them at the shops it would still be pretty daunting and pretty amazing,” De Silva said as per Goal.com.

De Silva will practice as part of Roma’s squad along with Italian star Francesco Totti, who was included in the lineup as a great treat for local fans. He added that training with the Italian icon “will be a great moment” for hm. The Australian youngster will head to the Italian capital at the end of July to complete the move to Stadio Olimpico.

“It’s starting to really hit home, but I’m really excited and really looking forward to what the future has in store. Coming back down to where it all began for me and seeing all the boys again and obviously getting a beautiful send-off from all the lads, it’s a little special moment for me. It just prepares me for the next adventure ahead,” De Silva said as per Yahoo News.

The 18-year-old playmaker will fly to Melbourne on Wednesday to practice with his Roma teammates. De Silva is the only Australian footballer to participate in the three-match ICC preseason tournament, which will also include English Premiere club Manchester City according to reports of News.com.au.
