Details about why a Stormtrooper doll is featured in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” have surfaced online. A previously released picture from the movie showed a Death Trooper holding the doll in his hands. The producers have so far refused to comment on that picture.

[Spoiler alert]

A picture of a Death Trooper holding a Stormtrooper doll was posted on Entertainment Weekly. The report only described it as a galactic version of a toy soldier, and that it will have a “special significance in the story.”

Examining all the footage and pictures from the movie that have been release so far, Star Wars News Net has pieced together the possible reason why there is a toy in the movie. The report points out that Mads Mikkelsen (Galen Erso) plays the role of the protagonist Jyn Erso’s (Felicity Jones) father.

Galen is speculated to have played a major role in the designing of the Death Star super weapon for the Empire in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Some of the pictures released from the movie show the character standing in what could be his home planet, when Death Troopers approach him. The character appears to remain calm; presumably because he has sent his daughter away and knows that she is safe.

The Death Troopers proceed to destroy his home and discover the Stormtrooper toy, which belongs to 15 year-old Jyn. Realising that she could be close by, the soldiers search for her, but may not be able to locate her.

As Galen’s daughter; Jyn may know the details about the Death Star. This could be the reason why she was chosen to lead the mission to steal the plans of the super weapon in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” The Empire is preparing to test the weapon and the Rebel Alliance is running out of time to find a way to neutralise this new threat.
