The forthcoming “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” will have a “shocking” link to “A New Hope,” reports reveal. The movie is heading for reshoots to get the tone right. The director is said to be reshooting around 40 percent of the movie over a period of eight weeks.

According to a report by Express.co.uk, a film reporter called Borys Kit recently revealed online that the Gareth Edwards movie will end just 10 minutes before the opening scene in “A New Hope.” The opening scene of the 1977 movie showed Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) on the run after having acquired the plans for the Death Star. Her ship is later boarded by Darth Vader, who had been tasked with hunting down the Rebels and their sympathisers.

Both Darth Vader and a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) are expected to be featured in the forthcoming movie. Given that the movie has such a close link to “A New Hope,” Disney reportedly wants to make sure that Edwards gets the tone right.

According to a report by Making Star Wars, around 40 percent of “Rogue one: A Star Wars Story” will be reshot. The cast and crew will be working for six days a week for eight weeks to reshoot some for the scenes. 32 sets were reportedly recreated to help finish the scenes.

The report revealed that director Edwards will be joined by script writer Christopher McQuarrie to make sure they are both on the “same page.” McQuarrie, however, has slammed such reports and said that he is not involved in the reshoots.

According to Slash Film, McQuarrie has said that any outlet saying that he is involved in the reshoots of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is not only “wrong” but also “irresponsible.” “ Gareth Edwards is a talented filmmaker who deserves the benefit of the doubt,” he said and added that the director should be allowed to make his movie in peace.
