Switzerland's Roger Federer will square off against Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro in the Round of 32 of the Miami Open on Monday. While Federer is fresh off a 7-6 (2), 6-3 second-round victory over American teenager Frances Tiafoe, Del Potro breezed past Netherland's Robin Haase in his previous round at Crandon Park.

Though Federer owns a 15-5 career record against Del Potro, the 2009 US Open champion, the two players haven't locked horns since the 2013 ATP Masters Finals. They were supposed to meet during last year's Miami Open until Federer pulled out of the tournament with an untimely stomach flu. "I should have played him here last year but I was sick. That was a pity. It's better to play him maybe this time around when we're both better."

"He was also just on the comeback last year. But, yeah, we've had some epic matches against each other: Semis at the French, Olympic semis, finals at the US Open. You name it, we've had some really good ones. I'm sure the crowd would love to see it. Robin Haase is going to have a say about that, as we know," Federer said while speaking of his past rivalry with del Potro, via ASAP Sports.

Meanwhile, Federer, who started the year as World No. 16, has swiftly risen to No. 4 in the latest ATP World Rankings. The Swiss master had previously targeted entering this year's Wimbledon as a top-8 player, which will aid him with a better seeding and tournament draw. If Federer were to get past Del Potro, he could be matched up against 14th seed Roberto Bautista Agut in the Round of 16 before a potential showdown against Tomas Berdych in the quarters. Federer could then likely face Stan Wawrinka in the semi-finals followed by archrival Rafael Nadal in the finals.
