Roger Federer continues to reign at the 2014 Forbes' List of Highest-Paid Tennis Athletes. Federer amassed total earnings of $56.2 million between June 2013 and June 2014.

According to Forbes, a huge percentage of Federer's earnings came from his endorsement deals. The third-ranked Swiss athlete has earned $52 million from his sponsorships alone, in addition to prize money that he won in the tournaments he had participated in, which is worth $4.2 million.

Some of Federer's biggest endorsements are Gillette, Wilson, Nike, Lindt Chocolate, Credit Suisse, Rolex, Nationale Suisse, Jura Elektroapparate, and Moet & Chandon. These companies reportedly pay Federer more than $40 million every year altogether.

Federer is also ranked seventh in Forbes' Top 100 Highest-Paid Athletes of 2014, beating the likes of professional golfer Phil Mickelson, tennis rival Rafael Nadal and National Football League (NFL) quarterback Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons

Meanwhile, Federer will begin his quest for another Grand Slam title at the 2014 US Open. He is seeded second in the tournament and will face Australia's Marinko Matosevic in the first round. Federer has previously faced Matosevic in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Brisbane International, where he triumphed in straight sets. The winner of the match will face either Sam Groth or Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the second round.

Federer's possible opponents include Fabio Fognini, Ivo Karlovic, Grigor Dimitrov, and David Ferrer. Due to Nadal's absence, Federer will have an easier time in his side of the draw and will face Novak Djokovic if both make it into the finals.

Federer currently holds the record for the most titles won at the Open. He is tied with Jimmy Connors and Pete Sampras, who each have won the championships five times. Federer has won the trophy for four consecutive times from 2004 to 2008.

Federer has collected some notable accomplishments in the ongoing 2014 Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour season. He had won three titles so far including the Dubai Open, Gerry Weber Open, and the Western & Southern Open (Cincinnati Masters). He had reached the finals eight times in all the 14 tournaments that he had partaken. With Nadal in the sidelines, Federer is among the favourite to win the 2014 US Open. Will Federer be able to win his 18th Grand Slam title?
