After almost two years without any updates, Harmonix announced new "Rock Band" DLC. The DLC in question are three new songs, two of which come from "Rock Band" favourites Avenged Sevenfold and The Foo Fighters, while the last one comes from a band that has never appeared in any of the "Rock Band" games: The Arctic Monkeys.

The three new songs will be available for $2 each and will be released on Jan. 13, 2015. All three songs will be compatible with "Rock Band 3" and "Rock Band Blitz." These songs join over 3,500 other tracks in the "Rock Band" store's massive lineup that features 1,400 artists. The songs in question are: 'Shepherd of Fire" by Avenged Sevenfold, "R U Mine?" by the Arctic Monkeys and "Something From Nothing" by the Foo Fighters.

When asked by Gamespot why the company decided to release three new songs after originally ending DLC support in April 2013, Harmonix PR Manager Nick Chester stated: "We couldn't pass it up. Also, we wanted to see if we could still do it. Turns out we can. It's sort of like riding a bike." Chester also said that adding a song from The Arctic Monkeys was too good to refuse, as they had never been in a "Rock Band" title before. He also expressed excitement over new songs from Avenged Sevenfold and The Foo Fighters.

Chester also told fans not to get their hopes up for more DLC as it appears this is simply just a one off decision. Alex Navarro from the Giant Bomb attempted to get more details from Harmonix, but was shunned with a rather quick subject change. Rumours have been speculated about "Rock Band 4" for some time now so perhaps the decision was made to raise interest in the franchise again. There have also been rumblings about Activision wanting to bring back "Guitar Hero" to new consoles so this could also be the reason Harmonix decided to bring back interest to "Rock Band."

The three new songs will be available on Jan. 13, 2015 for $2 each. The last song that was released for "Rock band 3" was Don Mclean's hit song "American Pie" on April 2013, but that's no longer the case.
