When singer FKA twigs started dating “Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson, she was not aware that she would face harsh racist comments on Twitter. The “Glass & Patron” singer was bullied by Internet trolls for her looks and ethnicity. But the 27-year-old stood up to them and said no to being mistreated by cyberbullies.

In her latest interview with a British radio channel, the songstress talked about what made her take that stand against cyberbullies and how frustrated she feels when she reads false tabloid stories about her. "I didn't want them to see me being bullied and not stand up for myself because ultimately I'm ten times stronger than somebody hiding behind a weird name on Twitter," Twigs is quoted as saying to BBC Radio 1."I wanted to show that I can stand up for myself so then hopefully another person will see that and want to stand up for themselves."

Twigs is talking about the time when she faced a lot of hatred on Twitter from Pattinson's fans, who were not happy with the fact that she has replaced his rumoured ex-girlfriend, Kristen Stewart, in his life. Twigs wrote on Twitter that she was “genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism” that she was subjected to on the social media. Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, also said on Twitter that “racism is unacceptable in the real world and it's unacceptable online."

Twigs is a multi-talented personality as she not only sings but is also an exceptionally great dancer who has appeared in music videos of Jessie J and Ed Sheeran. She has also directed many of her music videos, including the latest one of “Glass & Patron,” where she is seen with a huge baby bump. But being talented does not spare her from the racist comments. Twigs admitted in her interview that there was a time when she was so stressed that she was reading every single comment about her even at 3 a.m.

Twigs could not “believe the world was like that.” She finds herself to be too naive for Internet and said she does not “engage with it [Internet] that much.” The British songstress also found it very hard to believe that “people think like that or say things like that” and said that the hate comments about her are “morbidly fascinating."

Being the girlfriend of one of the most popular Hollywood actors is not easy for twigs. Ever since she started dating Pattinson, she has not only faced cyberbullying but also has to deal with many false tabloid stories about her love life. But twigs is a strong woman and said all the fabricated stories hardly affect her or the way she works. She find the stories “frustrating because those sorts of tabloids are just looking for a headline," said twigs adding that the “headline is often so far from the truth."
