While the whole world talks about the perennial problems on climate change, the population expected to shoot up in billions at the turn of the century and the millions of child laborers reported by the International Labor Organization, former Twilight lovers Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart find themselves at the center of their biggest lovers’ spat since their split, as of yet - - the custody of their beloved dogs, Bear and Bernie.

As Robert slammed the door on Kristen on May 19, he took with him not only his surfing board and the metallic case along with his mountaim bike and, most likely, his guitar. The British hunk, without any explanation, deemed it was right to take with him two dogs, Bear and Bernie, that were under his and Kristen’s care when they were still together.

Seated on the passenger seat of his red pick-up truck were the lovers’ pets, and Bear and Bernie are the ones Rob go home to in his Spanish-style villa found at the far-off distance, miles away from Kristen’s place in Los Feliz.

The place is too far for Kristen that she misses the dogs she once rescued from a settlement house. And she wants to be with them, at least one of them.

Recent reports have it that Kristen had even sought legal advice to find ways how she could spend some time with either Bear or Bernie - - or both. The Speak star argues that Rob should not be allowed to take both of them and that at least, she should share one of them.

Really? Or does Kristen just misses Rob so much that spending time with the dogs is one way for her to keep Rob close to her heart? Or she just plainly misses her pets.

“Kristen thinks they should have one each,” the actress insisted, according to a source interviewed by the Daily Star, noted Entertainmentwise.com.

The source added, “She's missing the dogs like mad, but doesn't want the situation to turn nasty.”

What does Kristen have to do gain custody of one of her dogs?

Here’s some areas for consideration that may help either Rob and Kristen argue their case:
1. Financial capability to care for the dog/s
This argument could be ruled out as both Kristen and Rob are very much capable to financially support the needs of either Bear or Bernie. Both has been enlisted as the highest male and female celebrities at such young age after taking in two of the most iconic characters in the history of film in Twilight Saga.

But this should be noted to determine who is more willing to spend for the dogs’ needs. If both is hell bent on having the custody of the dog, the lovers will find themselves at a deadlock. One should really give in.

2. Primary caretaker of the dog/s
This is a question of who has been more responsible for the dog. Who has sacrificed some time off to buy dog food and prepare food and clean after them. Primary caretaker is a question of who has more time to walk them in the park and attend to other dog activities with them.

3. Time to spend with the dog/s
The third consideration is related to the second one - - the primary caretaker. It goes without saying that whoever appeared to have spend more time with the dog could be regarded as the primary caretaker.

The problem with both Kristen and Rob - - both will have upcoming projects. Rob is flying to Toronto to film Maps to the Stars and Kristen is expected to start working too with her two latest projects. Even if they both have been good caretaker for Bear and Bernie, an equally important question is, who has got more time at the time the custody is argued.

Will they be able to provide who will spend quality time with the dog in their behalf when they are out working?

4. The environment each has to offer for the dog/s
This could be a question of space. It looks like Rob has an upperhand on this argument. His Spanish-style villa is big enough for the dog to run around in, stretch and do some dog things. Though Kristen can argue that neither of them had any problem with Bear and Bernie in the compound at the place they both shared before the split, so why use this argument. Again, the couple meets a stalemate. Unless one really gives in.

5. The party who bought/acquire/rescue the dog
Earlier reports claim that one or both the dogs were rescued by Kristen. Does this give the actress an edge to acquire custody of one or both of the lovers’ pets? If this fact is known to Robsten, then why Rob would take both in the first place? Could it be because Rob and Kristen could have both rescued the dog. Or maybe Rob was not around when Kristen did, but did he have consent to rescue both dogs or either one of them? Kristen may have rescued the dog, but Rob could have grown more fond of the dog than KStew?

Rob once said of Bear: "He came out of the shelter and the next day, he's on a private plane."

Who knows? Does Kristen really want to have the dog back? Or she just misses Rob more than the dogs Rob cares about. Let’s just hope the lovers reach an amicable settlement.

Lucky Bear and Bernie.
