Until this day, the proposed match between two boxing legends Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. has not happened yet. Many believe that the fight between the two boxers could be highest-grossing bout in the history of the sport, but both camps failed to reach an agreement. Boxing fans still hope that Pacquiao and Mayweather could finally meet in the boxing ring. Hall of Fame Trainer Freddie Roach has said that he also wants to see Pacquiao fight Mayweather and he thinks that pay-per-view rivals HBO and Showtime can make the fight happen.

Roach said in a statement as told by Bad Left Hook that he met up with Top Rank's Bob Arum and CBS Corporation President and CEO Les Moonves. He said that if everyone involved can do the task that they are supposed to do, the much-anticipated Pacquiao-Mayweather fight will take place. Roach said that Pacquiao and Mayweather aren't the only ones, who matter, but also the promoters and the TV networks.

Roach added that it has been done with Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson so he is pretty confident that it can also be done with his protégé and Mayweather.

"I'm hoping that everyone does their job and the fight happens," Roach said.

Although the 54-year-old trainer is "unconvinced" that the bout will really take place, he is hoping like every boxing fan that it would. "I love challenges and that's a challenge for me," Roach said.

Meanwhile, Arum told local Filipino TV channel ABS-CBN that he is also hoping that boxing enthusiasts and other people will pressure the unbeaten five-division world champion Mayweather to fight Pacquiao. Arum also cited that Mayweather has a lot of qualms about fighting the Filipino boxing icon because he is scared that Pacquiao might tarnish his undefeated record.

The world has begged for the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight to happen, but years had already passed and it still hasn't materialised. The elder Mayweather has said that the fight will definitely take place, but his son has set new demands for Pacquiao, including a switch of TV network. Mayweather's previous demands include drug testing and 55-45 purse split. These, apparently, tough and prejudiced demands are the reasons why the dream fight is still not happening.
