One of the big expectations in "Riverdale" season 2 is the arrival of Hiram Lodge, a role to be played by Mark Consuelos. The addition of a new but familiar character is expected to rock the boat – particularly angles involving Archie (KJ Apa) and FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich).

In a previous post, it was mentioned that there could be flashbacks. Seeing how showrunners need to build on the Hiram Lodge angle, digging back to the Lodge history makes sense. Curiously, it remains to be seen if it would include the relationship Hiram Lodge had with other parental characters like Fred Andrews (Luke Perry), FP Jones and Clifford Blossom (Barclay Hope).

Now, fans are expecting a dramatic pilot episode that would cover the unfortunate shooting of Fred Andrews at the diner. The assailant will be the key element moving forward. Was he simply there to rob Pop Tate (Alvin Sanders), or was he actually planning to shoot someone? And if so, did Hiram have a hand in it?

There are a lot of things to consider as well. One is the blossoming relationship between Archie and Veronica (Camila Mendes), then there is the secret relationship between Fred and Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols). Either way, a debuting Hiram is unlikely to take it lightly, with showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacas spilling his persona to EW:

"Hiram is a family man, he loves and treasures his wife and especially his daughter. But there’s no denying that we’ve built up someone who has very dark dealings and who has a criminal past."

From the description alone, Hiram may end up bringing "Riverdale" season 2 the same shrouded past that FP Jones carried. And with the character, his relationship with Archie (because of Veronica and Hermione) may not be exactly be smooth-sailing. Add the business deals in the past and the debonair redhead is likely to rebel against Hiram for most parts of "Riverdale" season 2.

As for Veronica, expect the prized daughter of Hiram to go against her father’s wishes. She showed how she can be feisty in "Riverdale" season one, and the same is expected moving forward – if not worse. The romance between Archie and Veronica may follow a "Romeo and Juliet" turn in season 2. Even if it does, that is how the comics rendered it, so no real harm was done there.

"Riverdale" season 2 is set to start production this month, with no official word on the official return date. Make sure to check back here on IBT AU for more "Riverdale" updates.
