In her upcoming interview with Oprah Winfrey, Rihanna gets emotional as she talks about her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

It has been three years since the Rihanna-Chris Brown assault happened and it's only now that the Barbadian singer opened up about the incident. In an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey, Rihanna sits down and tears up when the topic about her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, was brought up.

In the upcoming interview which is to be aired on OWN in August 19, Rihanna confessed the reason why Chris Brown committed battery. The 24-year-old singer said that she thinks Brown did what he did because he needed "help." And instead of hating on her ex, Rihanna sympathized with the RnB singer,

"I felt like the only person they hate right now is him. It was a weird, confusing space to be in," she said while tearful. "Because as angry as I was - as angry and hurt and betrayed - I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help. And who's going to help him? Nobody's going to say he needs help, everybody's going to say he's a monster, without looking at the source. And I was more concerned about him."

In the teaser, Oprah can be seen probing questions whether Rihanna still loved her ex, but her answer is still a blur until the full episode of the interview premiers.

Rihanna and Chris Brown continue to be linked with each other. During her birthday this year, Rihanna even invited Brown at her private party. And while she spent some days in a European tour, they have reportedly met up since Chris was in Cannes.

Ever since they broke up, Rihanna has not been in any serious relationship while Brown has a steady girlfriend, Karrueche Tran.
