RiAus TV is a free TV channel for online and mobile dedicated mainly for science-oriented programs. The channel will broadcast top quality science shows derived from some of Australia's major science-based organizations. It will also showcase exclusive interviews with popular scientists like physicist Brian Cox and Australian chief scientist Ian Chubb.

According to The Australian, the TV channel's web platform is ready and mobile users could watch science shows using their devices' browsers as soon as the apps for both iOS and Android are released. RiAus is also affiliated with Britain's Royal Institute which is famous for science education and research.

The list of partners who have signed up with RiAus are: The University of Adelaide, Flinders University, University of South Australia, University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. The list also includes industry organizations like the Defence, Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO).

Currently, there is a strong demand for programs with high-quality science-based contents and according to RiAus Director Dr. Paul Willis, the channel will take the opportunity to make science as an integral part of Australian pop culture. The channel would also like to promote conversations about science across Australia.

RiAus TV was also made possible with the help of Hostworks, a digital media solutions company. The company will share its expertise behind the scenes and will work to customise digital solutions platform called Media Foundry which will deliver the science-based contents to desktops, tablets and smartphones through RiAus TV, ITWire reports.

According to Hostworks CEO Will Berryman, his team will provide an entire package of digital support to the channel which includes creation of interfaces, development of wireframes, encoding/decoding and content streaming to the urban, remote and rural areas of Australia. Berryman emphasized the success of their partnership which has overcome the barriers of distance and affordability without compromising quality and innovation. He also added that being part of a project that aims to deliver knowledge to children, students, teachers, parents and to any person who has the thirst for science gives honour to his company.
