Controversial Return of Kings founder Daryush “Roosh V” Valizadeh has said US presidential candidate Donald Trump represents his idea of a traditional, patriarchal and nationalist society. The “neomasculinist” group’s leader told reporters on Saturday that the media lied when they called him a pro-rape advocate, claiming he didn’t support it but went on to say women should do better in protecting themselves.

“If a woman got raped, that is a sad thing. It’s a bad thing. But whose fault is it? Is it the woman’s fault? No, I’m not saying that,” he said during a press conference in Washington, DC, in the US. “But a woman can do things to reduce the likelihood that she will get hurt.”

He continued, “If I get a BMW car right now and I leave the key inside and park it in a bad area and it gets robbed, whose fault is that? Is it the thief’s fault or is it my fault for being a moron?”

Roosh’s “How to Stop a Rape” article has become a hot topic following news that his exclusive for men club was planning a simultaneous meetings around the world. The 2015 article, which he called a satire, put the onus of rape on women and said rape should be legal if done on private property.

He described the articles on his site as “macho sex writing,” calling anyone who would equate that to rape as a liar. He cleared, though, that he has never raped anyone.

The meetings were cancelled after global protests were heard. He said he couldn’t guarantee the safety of his members anymore.

Roosh also claimed the media lie on the actual rapes in the world. “When a real rape happens, you cover it up!” he exclaimed, referring to the gang rapes of women in Germany. He said the mainstream media did not publish the story. As the Daily Dot pointed out, though, a simple Google search can reveal that the news was thoroughly covered in the media.

As for the presidential candidate that he would likely support, he mentioned Trump’s name without committing to endorse or elect him.

“You have a globalist and you have a nationalist. So I would lean more towards a nationalist. Tradition, patriarchy, local solutions instead of globalisation. Donald Trump comes the closest to what I think is true,” Roosh said.
