Nearly a month before the mega-buck fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, the Filipino eight-division boxing world champion has received the support of retired professional wrestling star Bill Goldberg. Goldberg has cheered for Pacquiao to win the fight, however, he also admitted that the Filipino would have had better chances of winning had the fight happened five years ago.

Goldberg has his preference. He is choosing Pacquiao over Mayweather simply because Pacquiao is more likeable than the undefeated fighter, who has a questionable character according to Goldberg.

“I want Pacquiao to win,” Goldberg told Fight Hype. “I think he had a much better shot five or so years ago, but I want him to win because, though I understand the heel mentality of Mayweather’s character, sometimes over the past, his character has been severely questioned, and at the end of the day, man, you got to treat people like you want to be treated, period, end of story.”

Goldberg believes that Pacquiao can bring a lot of experience and fighting styles to the table come the fight night. Even though Goldberg has his heart for Pacquiao, he also had some nice words to say about the unbeaten American fighter.

Goldberg may not be a fan of how Mayweather fights in the ring, but he applauds the Grand Rapids native boxer for being able to maintain his undefeated record in his boxing career. Goldberg also has high regard for Mayweather for becoming the highest-paid athlete in the world.

The Mayweather-Pacquiao fight has been laid on the table some five or six years ago, but due to various factors, it failed to materialise then. After both camps reached an acceptable deal, the bout between two of the world’s greatest fighters deemed as the fight of the century is finally taking place. Who has better chances of winning between Mayweather and Pacquiao?

Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole has said that neither Mayweather nor Pacquiao has ever faced anyone quite like the other. This would be the first time that Mayweather would meet a fighter that has the combination of speed and power like what Pacquiao brings to the table when he fights. Pacquiao, on the other hand, is about to face the best defensive fighter in his career. Does this mean that both fighters have equal chances of winning the fight?

About 600 or 700 tickets for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will be sold to the general public in the coming weeks. The ticket prices starts at $1500. For boxing fans who will opt to watch the epic fight in the comfort of their own homes, the pay-per-view broadcast has been set at $89.95 and $99.95 for high definition.
