Resorts World Manila (RWM), a casino, hotel and mall complex beside Manila's international airport, launched its third hotel, the 712-room Remington Hotel, on Friday.

Remington Hotel, which caters to budget travelers, completes the three hotels of the integrated tourism spot RWM owned by conglomerates Alliance Global Inc. (AGI:PM) of the Philippines and Genting Hong Kong (GTHKF:US, GENHK:Singapore) of Singapore. The RWM also has the 168-luxury suite Maxims Tower, and the 342-room 5-star Marriott Hotel.

RWM Executive Vice President Stephen Reilly, speaking before guests and reporters, said the opening of the Remington Hotel is in line with RWM's goal of putting the Philippines on the map as a destination of choice.

Department of Tourism Undersecretary Benito Bengzon, who is among the guests, said the opening of Remington Hotel comes at an opportune time because the Philippines is experiencing an unprecedented growth in tourist arrivals in the first nine months of the year. Bengzon said the number of tourists who came to the country during the period is nearly 2.9 million.

"The new hotel will certainly add to the rapidly expanding room capacity in Metro Manila," Bengzon said.

The nine-storey Remington Hotel has 623 standard rooms and 89 units of serviced apartments. With an average room size of 21 square meters, the standard rooms have two queen-sized beds, air-conditioning, in-room WiFi, in-room safety box, shower and bathroom, hot and cold water, power sockets on the wall, electronic keylock, telephone, luggage storage and daily housekeeping services.

The serviced apartments, on the other hand, features a one queen size bed, sofa bed, dining table, cooking facilities, microwave oven, and refrigerator.
The hotel is also equipped with electronic access key room cards, CCTV cameras, and trained round-the-clock staff.
The net rate for a couple and two children below 12 years old is $72 for a standard room and $94 for a serviced apartment good until March 2012. The rate excludes breakfast and includes service charge and tax.

RWM President Kingson Sian, Vice President for Hotel Operations Christopher McGonnell, Vice President for Marketing Jeffrey Evora, Assistant Vice President for Hotel Sales and Marketing Christine Ibarreta, and Reilly led the launching ceremony. Grace Santos, a councilor of Pasay City, where RWM is located, and Bengzon unveiled the Remington Hotel logo.
