Capcom has announced that the next “Resident Evil 7” downloadable content (DLC) will be delayed to a latter day other than Spring. Game director Koshi Nakanishi explained that the company will be pushing the release further to enhance the free add-on and keep up with the positive reviews the game has received.

Capcom will release the next DLC for its latest hit game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in an unannounced date. It was previously confirmed that it will feature a series veteran who also made an appearance in the ending of the main story of the game.

According to a Twitter announcement by the official “Resident Evil” account, Chris Redfield will be making his return in the next DLC. Although the post mentioned Redfield’s return, it did not reveal who or what he is chasing. It should be noted that Redfield is working for the Umbrella Corporation now.

Nakanishi said, "In light of the incredible reception of Resident Evil 7, we concluded that this DLC was not good enough to meet those high expectations." Furthermore, producer Masachika Kawata added that the "aim is for this content to match the high quality of the main game, so we need more development time in order to achieve that goal."

‘Resident Evil 7’ DLC to star Chris Redfield

Compared to the game’s original protagonist, Ethan, Chris has the skills and the firepower to get the job done. Redfield has the required training, so it might mean there will be tougher enemies he has to face in the DLC.

The downloadable content will explain Redfield’s involvement with the incident within the Baker’s residence. It will provide a backstory on how he was in the right place at the right time at the ending of the main game.

Not a Hero DLC will be the third DLC Capcom releases for its latest hit horror game. The first two DLCs are paid expansions Banned Footage Vol. 1 and Banned Footage Vol. 2, both available in all platforms.

Capcom has promised that the next “Resident Evil 7” DLC Not a Hero will be free for all who purchased the game. Meanwhile, it plans on releasing another DLC to follow the next. This time, it might be a paid one.
