Actress Renee Zellweger poses at the 21st annual ELLE Women in Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles, California
Renee Zellweger thinks fashion and styles of actresses in red carpet events are taken way more seriously than they should. She thinks fashion is half of the fun of these events and should be covered but said she could not see the point of criticising how female artists choose to express themselves. Renee Zellweger appearance at the public event last month triggered a worldwide speculation about her transformed looks. It was being said that the actress has undergone a plastic surgery procedure. However, Renee's friend Reese Witherspoon feels that the media scrutiny on the "Bridget Jones Diary's" actress' look is unnecessary and "cruel."

"It's horrible. It's cruel and rude and disrespectful," she told Hollywood Reporter, adding, "I can go on and on. It bothers me immensely." She also said that why the society has to target a woman and then pitch another woman against her? The actress feels that it is unfair to analyse a person based on the appearance.

When Renee was plagued by plastic surgery rumours, it was also said that she might loose the role in "The Bridget Jones Diary 3" to Reese Witherspoon. Entertainmentwise has said in its report that the studio bosses are "worried" about Renee's changed looks and are considering replacing her with Reese. The 38-year-old actress is reportedly the front-runner for the role of Bridget Jones for the film's third instalment; however, there is no confirmation to the report.

Meanwhile, Reese is currently busy with the promotion of her film "Wild." She plays the role of Cheryl Strayed who plans to go on a hike after her divorce. She plans the trip alone, as a way to heal her. The film is based on the memoir "Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail," written by Cheryl. It talks about her journey from getting indulged in the wild life of causal sex and drugs to transforming herself emotionally. The book was amongst the New York Times bestsellers and was even selected as one of the must reads by Oprah Winfrey's club.

The film has been premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and has been screened at the Toronto Film Festival. Reese is already creating Oscar buzz for playing the wild role Cheryl Staryed. Jean-Marc Vallée of "C.R.A.Z.Y" fame has directed it. It also stars Laura Dern, Thomas Sadoski, Michiel Huisman, W. Earl Brown, Gaby Hoffmann, Kevin Rankin, Charles Baker,Jan Hoag, Brian Van Holt and others.
