Reports from major celebrity newspapers online were in unison. They were all saying that the choice for the actress to play former First Lady and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's biopic should be narrow down to Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Chastain, Scarlett Johansson and Amanda Seyfried.

Jessica Chastain starred in some television shows before her film debut in the independent film Jolene. In 2011, she already starred in seven films. Her most acclaimed role to date is in the film The Help which gave her nominations for the Academy Award for best supporting actress, Golden Globe Award for best Actress and Screen Actors guild Award. In her most recent film, Zero Dark Thirty, she won the broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Actress and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in Motion Picture Drama.

Scarlett Johanson rose to fame in the movies The Horse Whisperer and Ghost World. She earned her first Golden Globe Award nominations for films Girl with a Pearl Earring and Lost in Translation. She won a BAFTA award for Best Actress in a leading role for the latter. She also earned nominations for A Love Song for Bobby Long and Match Point. She finally snatched a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play for the 2012 Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's A view From the Bridge. And of course, her recent role was as Black Widow in Iron Man 2, The Avengers and 2014 Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Amanda Syfried may not be as awarded yet as the four other actress but the roles she got to portray were all remarkable. Her debut film was in 2004 in the film Mean Girls. She was able to do a breakthrough role in 2008 musical film Mama Mia and co-starred with Meryl Streep. Her latest role is with the internationally acclaimed musical, Les Miserables.

Reese Witherspoon is the most veteran of all the four stars. She had been in a lead role since the 1991 movie The Man in the Moon. But the peak of her career was in 2001 for the films Legally Blonde and all its franchise after and for the commercially successful film Sweet Home Alabama. She bagged an Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role all for the film Walk the Line. Although, people might remember her from her latest controversy where she was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, for being drunk, she had expressed her deepest regret about the incident.

Reports had already revealed that the biopic is to be directed by James Ponsoldt who expressed delight about the four actresses being eyed for the role.

Director Ponsoldt said, "They're all wonderful actresses. We're very fortunate that a lot of really great actors are interested in playing these roles. We're in an enviable position. Regardless of people's political affiliation or how they feel about Hillary Clinton, you don't find people who question the quality of her intelligence or her drive. I want a wonderful actress who could embody that."

The film's period will during the Watergate scandal during the Nixon Administration. The biopic will feature the young Hillary Clinton as a lawyer working for the House Judiciary Committee to impeach Nixon.

The movie's script written by Young II Kim was number four on 2012 Black List. Black List is a collection of Hollywood's most promising unproduced scripts.
