Redfoo has apologised “from the bottom of his heart” to his fans after the Internet has turned against him. “The X Factor Australia” judge is being accused of exacerbating rape culture with his song “Literally I Can’t.”

Redfoo has caused massive outrage when he released his song “Literally I Can’t” earlier this month. The music video, by Play-N-Skillz and featuring Redfoo, Lil Jon and Enertia McFly, is accused of sexism and of perpetuating rape culture. The criticisms hail from different countries, but in Australia, fans of the show have started an online petition for Channel 7 not to hire the U.S. singer back for “The X Factor Australia.”

His Wikipedia page was edited by livid viewers of the video as well. For a short time before it was changed back to normal, his page included, “Redfoo unfortunately did not inherit any of this father’s musical talent and has instead spent the last few years defecating out kitschy, tacky music, set to catchy beats in order to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

“Redfoo’s latest single is ‘Literally I Can’t,’ a track in which he gleefully exacerbates rape culture, encouraging women to shut the f up because he is unable to simply address them as human beings. Redfoo is close to 40 years old but acts like an entitled, irritating child.”

Redfoo initially refused to apologise, saying he was the real victim of critics who purposely misinterpret his meaning. He called the song a “satire.”

However, it appears that he has a change of heart. On Thursday, he apologised to his fans for offending them with the song.

“Over the years, you’ve connected with me through my music, art & personal interactions. My greatest joy & mission from day one has been to entertain people from all walks of life: the kids, parents, teens, ladies, gentlemen, cops & even the robbers,” Redfoo wrote.

“I get excited to create things that will unite all of us through laughter, dance & celebration. If during that process I offend anyone, I apologise from the bottom of my heart. In the future I will be more mindful of the way I present my art.”
