Hollywood stars donned on red noses and showcased their funny side during NBC’s Red Nose Day fundraiser program held Thursday, May 21. Red Nose Day is one of Britain’s most successful charity events which aim to raise money for poverty-stricken children in the UK and Africa. This worthy cause has now crossed over to the US, with NBC holding its own star-studded Red Nose Day comedy benefit show.

The three-hour NBC special, hosted by David Duchovny, Seth Meyers and Jane Krakowski, featured more than 100 celebrities who donated their time and comedy for the benefit. Stars like Zac Efron, Jennifer Aniston, Neil Patrick Harris, Matt LeBlanc, Josh Groban, Reese Witherspoon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jack Black, Michelle Rodriguez and Will Ferrell joined the show. The coaches from NBC's The Voice were also there along with the boys from One Direction, reports E News.

There were many hilarious and memorable moments showing Hollywood stars in various stunts and comedy sketches, encouraging people to donate. Actor Kellan Lutz even offered to strip down to his birthday suit for donations, while Billy Eichner and Martin Short took to the streets to try and get contributions from pedestrians.

One unforgettable scene was when Gwyneth Paltrow got stuck mid-air while doing her Mission Impossible stage entrance. According to The Telegraph, Paltrow was supposed to drop down on a line to the stage but was unable to unstrap herself from the harness. The actress ended up hanging mid-air while the segment continued. “This worked much better in rehearsal,” she noted.

Some of the stars even took on “odd-jobs” such as Orlando Bloom who ran the behind-the-scenes action at the control room, Benedict Cumberbatch who wrote the cue cards and Robert Pattinson who played valet attendant for the studio. Though the Twilight actor looked great doing valet duty, he unfortunately crashed the first car he tried to park, states Us Weekly. The actor was unharmed and no one seemed to care that he damaged the car.

Red Nose Day also showcased skits and spoofs from unexpected stars such as Coldplay doing a Game of Thrones musical with the show’s cast as well as Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant’s “real voice” spoof, among others.

The Red Nose Day telecast raised over 10 million dollars, with Bill Gates contributing $4 million. Proceeds of the show will go to various children's charities both in the US and across the globe.
