Real Madrid is prepared to wait for David de Gea’s contract to run down at Manchester United, and then bring him to the Bernabeu on free transfer. However, citing reports from the Daily Star, Manchester United looks to cash-in on de Gea if he makes it clear that he wants to leave the club.

This season, de Gea has been the main transfer target of Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti as he continues to search for a permanent successor for Iker Castillas. On the other hand, Manchester United is reluctant to allow the 24-year-old to leave the club, and manager Louis van Gaal is keen to tie de Gea down to a new contract to fend the interest of Real Madrid.

David de Gea has been one of the best players over the course of the past 18 months. In fact, the goalkeeper was named Manchester United’s Player of the Year under the last term of David Moyes and he continued to shine under the management of Louis van Gaal.

According to a report in the Telegraph, Real Madrid is willing to wait for 18 more months for de Gea’s contract to expire, which will allow the Spanish giants to snap the goalkeeper for nothing. Real Madrid identified the Spaniard as the replacement for Castillas, while keeping second-choice Keylor Navas as his goalkeeping options next season.

Along with David de Gea, reports suggest that the La Liga outfit looks to include Gareth Bale as a part to bring the 24-year-old to the Bernabeu. But Gareth Bale played down the prospect of leaving Real Madrid for Manchester United by claiming that he is happy at his current club. "I can't see myself at Manchester United," Bale said. "I have a long contract still to go, I am enjoying myself and we are winning trophies. I want to continue doing this at Real Madrid.” Bale added that he feels the support of Bernabeu and he will continue working to show that he is capable of winning more trophies.
