Rapper Iggy Azalea, who has signed up as “The X Factor” Australia judge, wouldn’t have opted for her new role if the auditions took more than a month, the rapper revealed via Twitter. Iggy will be heading back to her native Australia for shooting purposes. The “Fancy” star will be joining the show after singer Danii Minogue opted out of the show as judge on Sunday.

The 26-year-old Iggy, who hails from Sydney, was initially not sure if she would take up the role. However, the short shooting schedule and a chance to spend time with her family made her confirm.

“I really didn't picture myself being a judge on any kind of television show but I think that actually this could be a good fit for me, so I said yes. Initially I didn’t know but then I thought it would be good to come back to Australia and have an opportunity to spend some time there and obviously to see my family, who live in Sydney. So I think it will be a good situation for multiple reasons. I’m really excited and I don’t really know what to expect,” Iggy told The Daily Telegraph.

Iggy will be releasing her highly-anticipated second album “Digital Distortion” over the coming months. Hence, a longer “The X factor” shooting schedule would have clashed with her album release preparations.

Danii joined the show in 2013 and last year shared the judging panel with Guy Sebastian, Chris Isaak and British singer/songwriter James Blunt for the show’s seventh season. It is not known yet whether Iggy would also be sharing her judging duties with the three. The show is expected to start filming later this year. Previous “The X Factor” Australia judges included names such as LMFAO's Redfoo, Melanie Brown, Natalie Imbruglia and Ronan Keating.

Seven has not yet announced a broadcast date for the eighth season although it is expected to air after the Olympic Games in Rio. Iggy, who has already seen portions of previous seasons, said that she wants to “pick unique people and hopefully have them connect with everybody watching.” Iggy will be Down Under in the month of November.
