Raindance Film Festival has emerged to be one of the greatest platforms for independent films. The 2013 version of the film festival is going to start on Sept 25 at Vue Piccadilly in London. The festival will end on Oct 6, 2013. There is going to be a special focus on indie films from Japan titled as Way Out East.

Third Window Films, the film distribution company from the UK, has programmed seven of the 13 films to be shown in the highlight. It has got plans to bring five Japanese directors over to the festival for representing their latest films.

A2-B-C

Director: Ian Thomas Ash

This film is also going to have its UK premiere at the festival. The film is about the after effects of the nuclear meltdown on the children of Fukushima. Even after 18 months, they are suffering from thyroid cysts nose bleeds and skin rashes.

Court of Zeus

Director: Takahashi Gen

Takahashi Gen, who is well-known for Confessions of a Dog, will also be present at the festival for a Q&A session. This film is a courtroom thriller which exposes the corruption in the justice system of Japan.

Remiges

Director: Ozawa Masato

The film is going to have its European premiere at the festival. This film is about the life of lonely Sayako who meets another lone heart, Kenta, while wondering in the streets at night.

Sake-Bomb

Director: Sakino Junya

The director is going to be present for a Q&A session as the film is going to have its international premiere at the festival. The film is about a self-critical and sarcastic Asian-American who takes his cousin on a road trip in California looking for his former girlfriend.

Shady

Director: Watanabe Ryohei

The film has been nominated for the Best Debut Feature film at the festival while it has already won the Entertainment Award at the PIA Film Festival. The directorial debut of Mr Ryohei is about a 'shady' relationship between a couple of girls who are extremely different from each other.

Soul Flower Train

Director: Nishio Hiroshi

The film is also going to have its UK premiere at the festival. The film is about Amamoto who travels to Osaka from his tiny village looking for his daughter. He meets a young woman on the way who helps him in the quest while guiding him in the big city.

The Kirishima Thing

Director: Yoshida Daihachi

The film is going to have its UK premiere at the festival. The film has already won the Best Director and the Best Film at the Japanese Academy Awards. The film is about a couple of high school students who merge the social boundaries at school.
