Rafael Nadal beat Serbian Viktor Troicki in the finale of the 2015 Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart to win his first grasscourt title since 2010 7-6(3) 6-3. Nadal only needed one hour and 27 minutes to dispatch Troicki on Sunday.

Nadal’s recent victory was his 66th title on Association of Tennis Professionals’ (ATP) tour, but it was only his second title of a mediocre 2015 tennis season. He first won the Mercedes Cup title back in 2005 and 2007, when it was still played on Nadal’s favourite surface. This year, the tournament was played on grass as part of the two-week run-up to the upcoming grand slam event at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, the Wimbledon. He is now 17-2 in Stuttgart.

Playing for his 95th career final, Nadal looked in top form as he played rock-hard tennis all throughout the match. He won the first set in a tiebreaker with an ace. In the second set, Nadal broke a 4-1 lead against Troicki before ultimately taking the title. He extended his head-to-head series 5-0 against Troicki, who was playing for his first final on grass court.

“It’s a good result,” Nadal said via ATPWorldTour.com. “I’m not going to London and we’ll see, I have high expectations for the grass season and this (win) gives me a lot of confidence.”

Nadal took home a brand new yellow Mercedes sports car in addition to €104,000 ($116,740) prize money in Stuttgart. Nadal now turns his attention to the 2015 Aegon Championships at Queen’s Club in London. He won the Aegon title in 2008 against Novak Djokovic.

Nadal is the fifth seed in ATP World Tour 500 series tennis tournament. He leads an all-star lineup, which includes three-time champion Andy Murray (2009, 2011, and 2013) and 2015 French Open champion Stan Wawrinka.

Nadal will begin his campaign to win a second title at Queen’s Club against Alexandr Dolgopolov. The Spaniard leads the series against the 75th-ranked Dolgopolov 5-1. The pair last played against each other in the Round of 32 of the 2014 Indian Wells Masters tournament, where the Ukrainian won.
