Rafael Benitez Wants Real Madrid 'To Win Every Game'
Real Madrid’s new coach Rafael Benitez has stressed he can make the club's defence better than they have been in recent years, but insisted he wants the team to “win every game.” The Spanish coach is looking to bring back the championship to Los Blancos after failing to get a trophy last season falling behind the great rival Barcelona. Barca completed a treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Champions League crowns.
Benitez said on Wednesday that his vision for the Spanish club is to achieve a balance that will “enable” the team to win more games and greater chance of winning trophies according to the reports of Goal.com. The former Napoli boss replaced the dismissed Carlo Anceotti on June as coach of Real.
"We want to get to know the players and the players to get to know us. We want to give Real Madrid a style of play according to what Real Madrid is,” Benitez said as per Sportsmole.co.uk.
Benitez expects to improve his relationship with the players in their pre-season preparations in Australia. He said that his impression at the country is “really positive” adding that Oz is a spectacular place with a culture “centred around sport and hard work.”
"At this moment in time, it's good for us to be able to increase the time we've spent together and on the pitch. With the intensity and attitude the players are showing in the way they work, right now we're in a position to bring the best out of ourselves,” Benitez told the club’s official website.
Real will participate in the International Championship Cup to compete against Italian side AS Roma and 2014 English champions Manchester City as per Yahoo Sports. Los Blancos will face Roma on July 18 and will take on City the following Friday. Both matches will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
