Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer will use a wait-and-see approach on the ongoing National Football League, or NFL, investigation, on his team’s case involving text messages being sent to the sidelines from the front office during a game, a clear violation of the league rules, before making a decision if he wants to stay with the franchise for the next season.

“To read the stories and see what's going on, I'm just as interested as you guys are to see where that comes out," Hoyer said to ESPN.com. "Especially because when you read it has to do with the quarterback situation and play calling. That's something that could affect how I feel about it.”

Hoyer also discussed the situation of Johnny Manziel, his rival for the starting quarterback position at Cleveland and his voluntary decision to enter rehabilitation to address some personal issues off the field. The 29 year old Hoyer described the move of the 22 year old young QB as the step into the right direction and that’s he hoping the best for Manziel.

Brian Hoyer signed a two-year contract worth just $1.965 million with the Browns in 2012 and became an unrestricted free agent after the 2014 NFL Season. He helped the Browns start to a 7-4 win-loss record in 2014 but the team struggled in the second half of the season to miss a postseason slot. The word out of Cleveland is that the franchise still see Hoyer as a back-up QB quality and won’t give him a long-term big contract, something is looking for considering his good play with the Browns.

Hoyer, who will enter his 7th season in the league next year, had 3,326 passing yards on 242 of 438 completions with 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 2014. A career back-up with the exception of his time in Cleveland, Hoyer has also played for the New England Patriots from 2009 to 2011 and Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals in 2012.
