The holidays was a bad time for gamers who wanted to go online and play with friends. A group of hackers, who called themselves "The Lizard Squad," took responsibility for the worldwide network problem that affected both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. During an interview with The Daily Dot, Lizard Squad member Vinnie Omari revealed that their motivations were for what they deemed to be the greater good, though they claimed they also did it for the "lulz." Now it looks like the joke is on Omari as Gamespot has stated that the PSN/XBL hacker was arrested by the UK Police on Dec. 30, 2014.

Omari later told the Daily Dot that "They took everything, Xbox One, phones, laptops, computer USBs, etc." The "Lizard Squad" member also showed off the search warranty that was used to raid his home. The hacker also stated that no actual charges were filed against him, just "alleged" charges. Omari was released on bail until March. On March. 10, the hacker will be facing his first hearing regarding the PSN/XBL incident at 11 a.m.

In related news the FBI are also investigating another member of "The Lizard Squad" who is only known as Ryan, a teenager who has been in the eyes of the FBI for a few years after fleeing back to his country Finland. He is supposedly only sixteen to seventeen years old and was in jail for three months after threatening to bomb American Airlines while Sony Vice President John Smedley was aboard. He has been a target of the FBI for quite awhile now, dating back to 2013 when he and a friend tried to order hot wings with stolen credit cards. Ryan told The Daily Dot that he is not worried about the FBI's investigation due to his age and the extradition laws of Finland.

Both Ryan and Vinnie Omari were interviewed by Sky News on Dec. 27, 2014; two days after the attack on PSN and XBL. Ryan claimed that the attack was caused by three people, the youngest of which is supposedly only thirteen years old. As per usual their reasons for hacking the networks were for raising internet security awareness or so they claim.
