The latest firmware update for the PS4, the PS4 3.0 firmware update, had been underwhelming for some fans due to the lack of additional major features. This time, it appears that Sony is looking for a more ways to make fans happy and satisfied with the PS4.

A NeoGAF user reportedly got a survey form that hints at what Sony is looking to deliver with the next update. Spotted by Gamepur, the invite appears to be for the PS4 firmware update 4.0. Among the features included in the survey are renaming options for the PSN name, custom backgrounds, options for folders and more.

But the most interesting feature mentioned is PS1 or PS2 classics for the PS4. In the survey, there is both the possibility to suggest new features and to choose from predetermined additional features.

Other features that Sony has suggested include notifications for when friends are online, ability to appear offline, hide or completely remove items from library, increase maximum number of people in a party and filter options in game libraries. Sony has even asked fans when they would like the PS4 firmware 4.0 update to debut, with the earliest being the end of 2015 and the latest to be sometime in 2017.

The next firmware update may still be far off, but this week, Sony is gearing fans up for another round of free games with the PS Plus. According to Push Square, Sony has confirmed that the lineup of free games will be confirmed come the middle of the week.

Unlike before, where there would have been a couple of leaks as to what free games fans can expect form the PlayStation Plus, there is not much known this time. Surprisingly, there has also not been any announcements regarding the new Vote to Play feature that Sony has recently introduced. During the course of October, there have been no call to vote on what game players could nominate and have in the list.

October 2015 was not exactly a bright month in terms of PS Plus lineup selections. Fans have previously expressed their disappointment in the new lineup, stating that it has been a while since they have seen a decent title be offered as part of the PS Plus lineup.

It remains to be seen whether or not Sony has heeded the fans’ feedback regarding offering more and better selections. Specifically, fans have clamoured for the likes of the PS Vita and the PS3 to not be neglected in terms of the quality of free games offers.
