An official declaration was posted at the Monaco Palace on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014 to announce the birth of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene's twins. According to People, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella were born at the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco, which was named after their late grandmother, Hollywood actress Grace Kelly. Even though Princess Gabriella Thérèse Marie was born earlier than Prince Jacques Honoré Rainier, the latter is the crown prince and first in line of succession.

Based on the Treaty of Péronne (1641), Prince Jacques will carry the official titles of Hereditary Prince of Monaco and Marquis of Baux (in Provence). Meanwhile, Princess Gabriella has the title of Countess of Carladès (in Auvergne). She will also be second in the line of succession.

Seattle Times reports that Monaco's royal twins each got 21 cannon shots. Bells were also tolled for 15 minutes and boat horns were sounded when they were born. Plus, everyone in Monaco were given a day off to celebrate the birth of Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene got married on July 1, 2011. The pregnancy was announced in May 2014. Charlene was expected to give birth in October 2014, but she ended up giving birth in December 2014.

While Princess Gabriella Thérèse Marie and Prince Jacques Honoré Rainier are the royal couple's first children, Prince Albert II reportedly has other children (Alexandre Coste and Jazmin Grace Grimaldi) before getting married to Princess Charlene.

According to BBC News, Prince Albert II of Monaco admitted on July 6, 2005 through his lawyer Thierry Lacoste, that he is the father of Alexandre Coste. The mother of the child is Nicole Coste, a former Air France flight attendant, who was originally from Togo, West Africa. As for Jazmin Grace Grimaldi, Wikipedia states that Prince Albert II publicly confirmed the paternity of Jazmin on June 1, 2006. Her mother is Tamara Rotolo, who hails from California.
