The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, has finally commented on those persistent speculations that he and his wife, Kate Middleton, are ready for baby number three. Although the royal didn’t provide a definite timeframe, his response clearly suggests that he is open to the possibility of a bigger family.

In an interview with Sky News, via The Telegraph, Prince William was asked whether he and Kate Middleton have already decided on having just two children, especially since they both now have a boy and a girl. The question brought a laugh from the Duke of Cambridge and he replied, "We've only just had the second one.” Despite admitting that having two little ones take more responsibility, Prince William still hinted the possibility of a third child when he said, “You never know what is going to happen in the future.”

Prince William’s statements came after he expressed delight over having a fantastic and “lovely little family,” which comprises of his wife and their two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. He also spoke highly of his wife, Kate Middleton, where he praised her for being a good mother to their children. “Catherine has been doing an amazing job as a mother and I'm very proud of her,” he said.

Royal watchers have been speculating that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are likely going to have their third child in 2016. According to Red Book magazine, there is a 40 percent chance that Kate Middleton is going to get pregnant again when she turns 33 next year. Punters over at British bookmaking firm Coral also waged a 6-4 odd on the same year. Bets were also at 2-1 for the year 2017.

Yahoo Parenting also noted how 2016 could be the best year for a third child for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge considering Kate’s age. Women who conceive beyond the age of 35 or those who reach their mid-30s reportedly risk the chance of having a healthy baby.

Some members of the royal family are also betting on Prince William and Kate Middleton to likely have a third child. India Hicks, cousin of Prince Charles, told People that the couple “won’t stop” with two children.
