It’s believed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, will soon welcome new neighbours at Bucklebury, Berks. Syrian refugees have reportedly been allowed to take shelter at the empty Woodridge House, which is just four miles away from where the duchess’ parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, live.

Rob and Jeanette Samuels, owners of the Woodridge House in nearby Bucklebury Alley, have agreed to let the Syrian refugees stay at the empty house. The couple has reportedly conceded to a request from the West Berkshire Council to let the migrants live in the area. The Samuels have reportedly also expressed their interest to “do everything possible to help these desperate people” and are “happy to let the refugees move in,” according to The Sun.

The couple agreed to let the refugees stay at the Woodridge House to support the council in its efforts of providing aid to these people. A spokesperson for the West Berkshire Council said in a statement posted by The Sun that finding a suitable relocation for the refuges is part of the government's Syrian Vulnerable People Re-settlement programme. The said programme will reportedly run for the next five years. At the moment, the council is still finalising the number of refugees it can support.

However, despite the good efforts of the government, those living near the Bucklebury area also have their doubts over the programme as they only have their safety in mind. An unnamed villager said local residents were surprised by the news of the possible arrival of their new neighbours. He mentioned how the Duchess of Cambridge’s parents will think of having Syrian refugees as neighbours.

“Of course, everyone sympathises with refugees who have been forced to abandon everything and escape from their country. But you hear all these stories about terrorists being mixed up with the refugees, so people are bound to be worried if Syrians move into a village like Bucklebury,” the villager said according to The Sun.

Last year armed guards where spotted outside the Middleton’s home in Bucklebury over reports of a terrorist attack in the area. Thankfully, nothing unfortunate happened and the duchess was even seen visiting the local farmer's market.
