Now in New York City for their first visit as husband and wife, Prince William and Kate Middleton landed in JFK airport a little after 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Dec 7. Now in town to promote their various causes, etiquette expert says that Americans are encouraged to bow or curtsy to the royals as a sign of respect although they are not required to do so.

"Americans are not required to bow or curtsy, but should do so as a sign of respect," etiquette expert Patricia Napier-Fizpatrick told the Daily News. "They're much more casual, but taking a little extra care in your appearance is important."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently staying in Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan's Upper East Side as they prepare for their jam-packed scheduled for the next few days. The duo kicked off their visit as they attend a private reception tonight for the American Friends of the Royal Foundation, an organization that helps promote the Royal's philanthropic and artistic causes.

With so many things to do, the couple will temporarily separate to cover various activities with William flying to Washington DC. to attend a conference at the World Bank. One major issue that the Prince planned to discuss during the conference is to ban the transport of illegal wildlife across borders and to fight illegal ivory trade.

Meanwhile, Kate and NYC's "first Lady" Chirlane McCray are schedules to visit a local child development centre that provides education and mental health services. After that, the Duchess is off to lunch hosted by the British Consul General in New York.

Leaving their one-year-old son, Prince George, to Kate's parents, the royal couples are scheduled to visit the Sept 11 Memorial and Museum. With so many New Yorkers waiting to catch a glimpse of Will and Kate, the Cambridges are set to watch a ball game on Monday, Dec 8, at the Cleveland Cavaliers-Brooklyn Nets game where fans will be treated with a royal presence.

Expecting their second child next year, the couple will reunite in the basketball game in Brooklyn as part of their effort to launch their collaboration with NBA, The Royal Foundation and United for Wildfire. Based on some reports, Hollywood royal couple Beyonce and Jay Z will also be in attendance during the game.
