After months of heavy-breathing gossips and overwhelming public expectations, Prince Harry and girlfriend Cressida is allegedly taking a breather after dating for over a year. The royal couple decided to take a pause since it was too difficult for them to keep up with the public pressure.

Now after a year of speculating that the couple is heading for a royal engagement the two decided to part ways. "It is virtually impossible to have a successful romance and relationship in the full glare of the world's media," according to a source in an interview with The Telegraph. "The relationship has certainly at least paused for a breather."

The beautiful pair was believed to be introduced by Princess Eugenie of York who is a good friend off Bonas. The two are often pictured together at parties in London. After the royal introduction, the couple started dating in June last year and was first seen in public after the premiere of the Dark Knight Rises.

"Cressida is really smart, very naturally pretty and just a really cool girl to hang out with," says a source in an interview with E! News. "It's hard for Harry to date as there are so many opportunities out there, but Cressida is someone he knows he can trust as she is already in his circle. She's already passed the test of being discreet."

After appearing in public for the first time the couple managed to keep their relationship private. In August last year the pair together with a large group went for a romantic getaway in Necker Island in the Caribbean. But weeks after the island vacation, Harry was photographed naked in Las Vegas which caused a lot of speculation that Bonas dumped him temporarily.

After she cooled off, the pair were spotted at a series of events in London and recently in attendance to a James Blunt concert. Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas seem to be going strong and the red-headed royal could pop the question anytime.

After a turbulent first year, the royal couple seemed to have settled down which sparked rumours that the UK's most eligible bachelor is ready to pop the question. The rumours about the royal engagement started when Bonas spent a weekend at the Queen's Sandringham Estate with her Royal Prince.

But good things seem to come to an end but many are still hoping that the two will get back together just like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who split up before they sealed the deal.

"It's very sad that they have decided to split but this is a completely amicable separation and they are remaining the very best of friends," adds the source. "This gives Cressida the opportunity to focus on her career but they would like to have a few days to be left alone."
